Matt Havey joined Vermilion Development in 2018. As Chief Investment Officer, Matt oversees the firm’s investment strategy, capital markets efforts, key transactions, acquisitions pursuits, investor relations, asset management, and risk management.

Prior to Vermilion, Matt was a member of the investments team at The John Buck Company, where he concentrated on asset management, capitalization, acquisitions, and joint venture structuring. Prior to The John Buck Company, Matt practiced law in the Corporate & Securities group of Faegre Drinker LLP, where he represented public and private clients in a variety of M&A, corporate finance, and securities issuance matters. Matt began his career as a senior financial analyst for John Buck International, providing analytical support to the development of Sowwah Square in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Matt received a B.S. in Economics from Northwestern University.  He later earned his M.B.A. from The Kellogg School of Management, and a J.D. from the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. He is a member of The Chicago Council on Global Affairs and regularly volunteers with a number of Chicago-area non-profit organizations.
